Presscheck 101 | AIGA Atlanta
Extending the 101 event series, Presscheck 101 is an in-depth, hands on workshop devoted to the oft misunderstood, frequently perplexing presscheck. Aside from designing the graphics, I'll be organizing this and the Paper 101 events this year! Tentative 2011 dates are June 21 for Paper 101 and September 21 for Presscheck 101,- but check AIGA Atlanta's website for the specifics.

Lettersmash Branding
Since its near-dissappearance in the 1980's, old school, hand made letterpress printing has seen a welcomed resurgence in recent years. One of Atlanta's oldest printing companies has been practicing this craft since the early 50's, and is launching a new face for their letterpress department. Sign for USDA Forest Service Public Affairs Office
Recently, the USDA Forest Service redesigned their entire Public Affairs Division to give a warmer feel to their office on 25th street. At the centerpiece of the new signage is a 60 year old, hand-carved Forest Service Shield. This was a perfect opportunity to combine hand made history with modern design.
One fun fact that I learned from this project is that there is no 'tree' in 'foresty'- it is US Forest Service- not 'Forestry Service'. The original sketches showed the incorrect name, and it is good that I learned that beforehand because backspacing is much more difficult when type is permanently glued down.
